We just attended this year's Toyota Jamboree with our 6th Gen 4Runner build at Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area, Gilmer, Texas. This show is always a great time and we were glad to see so many Toyotas out there absolutely sending it this year.

Our 4Runner running a trail equipped with our full line of 6th Gen products.
While we were out there, we got to test out our newest Overland Front Bumper for the 6th Gen 4Runner which is now available! We ran into zero issues with the bumper and thought it performed great throughout the event. We had plenty of clearance with the bumper and left the event without a single scratch.
We hope to see more of our C4 customers there next year, so check out Toyota Jamboree and keep an eye out for next year's event. Here's what to expect and what you might need for next year:
What to Expect at Toyota Jamboree

Spectators watch as a Land Cruiser J80 drives around the course while the passenger holds out it's broken spring.
The Toyota Jamboree is the premier Toyota off-road event in Texas, bringing together over 700 Toyota enthusiasts from across the country for four days of pure adventure. Held at Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area (BMRA) just 5 miles from Gilmer, Texas, participants get exclusive access to 1,850 acres of pristine trails and camping—the entire recreation area is closed to the public for the duration of the event.
With trails ranging from "beginner mild" to "crazy extreme," there's something for every build type. Whether you're rolling in a stock 4Runner or a fully-built crawler, you'll find marked trails that match your rig's capabilities and your skill level. Beyond trail riding, the event features guided trail runs designed for all experience levels, rock crawling competitions, contests with trophies and bragging rights, and a vendor showcase featuring the latest Toyota parts, overlanding gear, and adventure accessories.

A variety of Toyota models and years make their way through a narrow portion of the trail.
Your registration includes 4 days of trail access, 3 nights of camping, 2 meals, an event t-shirt, raffle tickets, and more. The event is family-friendly too, kids under 12 are FREE, and the grounds feature a bounce house and kid-specific raffle. Dogs on leashes are welcome, making it easy to bring the whole crew.
Essential Gear to Bring
Communications (Required)
A FRS or GMRS radio is mandatory at Toyota Jamboree. Whether you're coordinating with your group, calling for help, or receiving trail updates, communication is critical in the backcountry.
Recovery & Safety
-
First aid kit
-
Extra fluids (oil, coolant, transmission fluid)
-
Tools and spare parts
-
Jack and jack stands
-
Tire repair kit

Our C4 4Runner travels through a muddy portion of the trail, fully equipped with a winch and D-ring mounts in case of a need for recovery.
Camping & Comfort
-
Tent and sleeping bag (if camping on location)
-
Camp chairs
-
Towels and extra clothes for changing conditions
-
Rain gear (We got plenty of rain this year)
-
Extra tie-downs for securing gear (Our roof rack was our primary gear storage platform)
-
Flashlights/headlamps and extra batteries
-
Bug spray for the Texas outdoors
-
Sunscreen for long days on the trail

Be prepared for rain! This Tundra got stuck after a portion of the trail became saturated with water.
Food & Ice
Here's an important note: Ice being available for sale on site is not guaranteed, so you'll need to plan ahead and bring your ice in from town. However, food vendors will be on-site serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout the event, so you won't be completely on your own for meals.
Vehicle Preparation
The C4 4Runner begins a rocky portion of trail as a J80 Land Cruiser follows closely behind.
First, please note that while passengers and spectators may drive any vehicle, all trail participants must be driving a Toyota brand vehicle. Make sure your rig is properly maintained before arriving. Check your fluid levels, tire pressure, battery condition, and suspension. The trails range in difficulty, so having recovery gear and a reliable vehicle is non-negotiable.
Optional But Recommended
-
Camera to capture the action
-
Backup power banks for phones and electronics
-
Extra snacks and drinks
-
Notebooks for trail notes and contacts
